What is TaxCalc India?

TaxCalc India is a free, static web tool that helps salaried Indian professionals estimate their income tax liability for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27). It compares the new and old tax regimes side by side, showing your estimated take-home salary under each.

The calculator is built using plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no backend, no database, no user accounts. Your salary data is never sent to any server.

How the Calculations Work

The calculator uses the official tax slabs and rules announced in the Union Budget 2025:

  • New regime slabs: 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% as per Finance Act 2025
  • Old regime slabs: 0%, 5%, 20%, 30% with age-based exemption limits
  • Standard deduction: ₹75,000 (new regime), ₹50,000 (old regime)
  • Section 87A rebate: ₹60,000 for taxable income ≤ ₹12L (new); ₹12,500 for ≤ ₹5L (old)
  • Health & Education Cess: 4% on (income tax + surcharge)
  • Surcharge: 10% / 15% / 25% depending on income level
